Today’s hardwood flooring requires minimal care, as available finishes better protect wood from wear, dirt and moisture while giving it an attractive color and sheen. And, they are made even more durable with a two-step stain and top coat finish.

Finish
This flooring is also popular because of its durability, water resistance and minimal required maintenance. Made from blends of synthetic resins — often referred to as urethanes or polyurethanes — surface finishes form a protective coating on the wood and are generally available in high-gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matte. Most include a penetrating Stain and Wax which soaks into the pores of the wood and hardens to form a protective, penetrating seal. The wax gives a low-gloss stain sheen that wears only as the wood wears. It is maintained with additional thin applications of wax and will not chip or scratch.
